THE INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE

“ TREES FOR PEACE ″

Since he ITPC has been established in support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the promotion of study, research and dialogue among the scientific community, international institutions, Governmental Agencies, NGOs and the private sector to reduce global warming effect and to promote sustainable development though the diffusion of the culture of tree preservation, their conservation will balance Climate change and will therefore reduce the conflicts and the emergencies due to climate change, including forced migration and widespread conflicts

Trees naturally absorb atmospheric CO2 and therefore represent the best way to preserve the delicate environmental equilibrium, avoiding a wide series of natural and socio-economic disasters caused by climate change

Protecting trees and reducing tree exploitation for combustible or mere speculative reason, will result in a progressive enhancement of Peace and international security.

Reduction of climate change is performed  pursuance of the numerous international undertakings (Agenda 21, Copenhagen Summit, Rio+20, and Paris CoP 21) thereto agreed and the most effective way to mitigate global warming and its related socio-economic emergencies is the protection and augmentation of trees as CO2 absorbers

For this reason their safeguard in quantitative and qualitative terms, represents a global priority and a sound imperative for the International Community. The initiative “ TREES FOR PEACE ″ is addressed to schools and local communities: everybody is encouraged to:

  1. perform school lessons on the key role of trees to build Climate Resilience through disaster risk reduction

  2. perform media-campaigns to support the adoption of the International Tree Protection Convention to declare trees patrimony of mankind

  3. to promote the study and research of alternative non-ligneous fuels (as hybrid energy produce).

Also the initiative, following the mandate of the Commission, shall enhance the exchange of technical knowledge and proactive dialogue among academic institutions, international agencies and Civil Society Organizations, through sharing best practices for tree conservation and environmental protection, discussing key environmental factors to preserve trees in urban areas and defining the framework of the Tree Protection Convention.
